Mills Leasing



Under the direction of the Vice President, National & Mills Leasing, the primary focus of this position is to lease space at Vaughan Mills within the existing shopping centre and the expansion area as well as to assist with the lease-up of CrossIron Mills.
  • Negotiate with local, regional and national tenants, in a manner so as to maximize the return on investment while ensuring consistency with pro-forma and/or property budgets.
  • Prospecting for new retail concepts, including but not limited to researching new tenant information as to their design layouts, construction requirements and analyzing their company financials.
  • Lease space in accordance with merchandising mix and leasing plans and maintain leasing status reports and accurate records.
  • Annually update specific information that may be required for the property (ie. lease expiries, re-merchandising plans, tenant mix analysis).
  • Coordinate lease buy-outs, surrenders, assignments, tenant buildouts, etc. with all necessary departments.
  • Negotiate LOIs, Tenant Proposal Forms (TPFs) and leases in a timely manner to ensure construction deadlines and targeted store opening dates are met.
  • Complete annual leasing budget for properties. Complete annual objectives. Liaise with the Operations, Tenant Coordination, Development, Legal and other departments.
  • Ensure synergy of the project while working collaboratively with the Mills Leasing team.
  • Responsible for other leasing related assignments as assigned due to the nature of the Vaughan Mills redevelopment project.




  • Post-secondary business education preferred with a minimum of 3-5 years shopping centre related job experience.
  • Must possess excellent negotiation, communication, mathematical and organizational skills.
  • Able to connect quickly with people in a poised, convincing and enthusiastic way.
  • Ability to work at an extremely fast pace, while working cooperatively with and through people in order to complete tasks.
  • Ability to work with a team and to complete collaborative work with the organization.
  • Ability to understand people and to use that understanding to effectively motivate and persuade others to act.
  • Strong sense of urgency, initiative and drive to get things done correctly, with emphasis on working with and through people in the process.
  • Ability to set and reach goals, and for tasks to be completed in a timely manner.
