Specific accountabilities: 

 

Reporting to the Vice-President, Internal Audit, the candidate leads and conducts audits, analyses and assessments of business processes, as well as financial and operational activities of Ivanhoé-Cambridge and Otéra Capital which provide value added recommendations to reduce adverse risks and increase operational effectiveness. The candidate works in collaboration with management, subsidiaries’ management as well as investment partners. 
 
  • Participates in the elaboration of the audit objectives and test program in compliance with the overall objectives set forth in the annual audit plan or ad hoc mandates for Ivanhoé-Cambridge and Otéra Capital as well as their subsidiaries, partners and platforms;
  • Proposes resourcing, staffing and time budget, for mandates allocated;
  • Monitors and reports on mandate progress and defines priorities so as to adhere to established budget by identifying problems that may cause delays;
  • Analyzes business processes and/or activities to identify their risks and controls and assess their adequacy, effectiveness and efficiency;
  • Participates in the elaboration of appropriate test programs to validate the existence and compliance to identified controls;
  • Participates in report writing to reflect the audit work performed, its conclusions and the areas for improvement;
  • Provides value added recommendations based on audit findings;
  • Participates in the communications and validations with audited business units of audit findings, recommendations and areas for improvement;
  • Where required, may assist the audited business units in the development of their action plans and provide coordination when other business units are impacted;
  • Performs analyses and investigations upon the request of the Vice-President;
  • Performs follow up on the implementation of audit recommendations pertaining to prior internal audits and external audit internal control memorandum`;
  • Assists the Vice-President in her administrative duties, such as the quarterly reporting to Ivanhoé-Cambridge’s and Otéra Capital’s Audit Committees as well as the Caisse’s Vice-President, Internal Audit;
  • Communicates effectively with others and maintains constructive relationships with business units.
 
Key requirements
  • Undergraduate degree in Accounting or Finance;
  • Chartered Accountant (CA) designation or equivalent experience;
  • Minimum of 3 to 5 years experience in audit, finance or accounting, preferably in real estate and commercial real estate financing at financial institutions and international real estate companies, or equivalent experience;
  • Excellent knowledge of and above-average writing skills in French;
  • Excellent knowledge of and good writing skills in English;
  • Ability to analyze and synthesize major components of an issue and make practical, business-oriented recommendations;
  • Team player;
  • Knowledge of real estate or commercial real estate financing products and their associated risks (operational and asset under management), an asset;
  • Knowledge of financial institutions or fund management, an asset;
  • Availability for Canadian and international travel between 25% and 35%.
