Specific accountabilities:
 
Situated in magnificent Niagara-on-the-Lake Ontario, The Outlet Collection at Niagara heralds a new concept among Ivanhoé Cambridge’s array of shopping centre developments. Anchored by Bass Pro Shops, Phase 1 of this open-air, outlet shopping centre will feature a sophisticated architectural design in eight, single-level buildings totalling 520,000 sq. ft. of retail space. Upon completion, this unique property will be home to 100 renown and eclectic retail brands and is slated to open in May of 2014. As Marketing Director, the successful candidate will be responsible for the ‘ground up’ development of a strategic brand identity and experiential strategy to generate results. Property Planning:
  • Work to create and implement the strategic Marketing direction, brand strategy and budget for the property in collaboration with the Director of Regional Marketing and the General Manager;
  • Assist in the planning and implementation of the grand opening event for the Outlet Collection at Niagara;
  • Analyze and interpret research, set objectives, formulate strategies and tactics that work to develop the Outlet at Collection at Niagara’s brand;
  • Develop, manage and execute the annual Marketing plan and budget for the property, including projecting Promotion Fund, Media Fund, and landlord's contribution.
 
Special Events, Promotions, Advertising:
  • Plan and execute a results oriented, cost effective advertising campaign to promote the opening of the Outlet Collection at Niagara, and contribute to the achievement of the property's objectives;
  • Manage a professional agency to develop a distinctive campaign and oversee the successful execution of the centre's creative and message strategies to create brand awareness and alliance; promote special events and key retail periods; and highlight retailers;
  • Plan and execute traffic and merchandising events designed to appeal to the property's key target segments and contribute to centre sales;
  • Work in collaboration with the Senior Tourism Manger to create and implement a tourism plan that promotes The Outlet Collection at Niagara as a tourist destination within the Niagara region.
 
Digital Media:
  • Contribute to the growth of the property’s social media presence with strategic input, designing and posting timely content on relevant media platforms to create synergies with social media extensions, and maintaining overall online presence with external blogs, forums and contributions to other social sites.
 
Customer Experience:
  • Oversee all facets of the shopping centre's Customer Experience Programme including the management of Customer Service personnel, and service offerings;
  • Responsible for the management of the Customer Service department, work to develop the Customer Service Team in keeping with the Shopping Centre's branded service strategy;
  • Complete a tenant communication plan to educate tenants on processes and procedures for the Outlet Collection at Niagara..
 
Miscellaneous:
  • Work with General Manager and Leasing to provide input into the property mix that is in keeping with the strategic property vision and brand;
  • Establish and maintain a thorough understanding of retailer sales performance, percentage rent analysis, retail trends, developments in trade area and economic factors that impact property performance;
  • Oversee all aspects of the gift card program at the property level in collaboration with the General Manager and Accounts Administrator;
  • Establish and maintain relationships with members of the community and work to ensure that The Outlet at Collection at Niagara serves as a community partner;
  • Provides support for such other projects and tasks as may be requested by General Manager and Administration team in preparation for the spring 2014 opening.                
 
 
Key requirements 
  • University Degree required (Business/Marketing Major preferred);
  • Five years of marketing experience preferably in a service-oriented industry;
  • High level of creativity and proficient in identifying and acting on opportunities;
  • Strategic thinker with strong analytical skills;
  • Strong commitment to customer service;
  • Strong project and time management skills;
  • Good understanding of social media and revenue and expense budgets;
  • Excellent communication and proven presentation skills;
  • Aptitude to embrace change and welcome new approaches in an exceedingly evolving, fast-paced environment.
 
Working Conditions
 
Due to the nature of the business and extended operating hours, the Marketing Director must be flexible and available to work after hours and weekends as required.
