Specific accountabilities:
 
This position will be responsible for managing a variety of special projects, such as the 45 Bay Street project and the Oakridge re-development project.
  • Work with Senior Directors of Design & Construction and Directors of Tenant Coordination, and their contractors as required, to ensure the proper set-up of special projects;
  • Oversee projects from pre-feasibility studies through pre-development and the overall coordination of technical design, and until there is full Board approval and a full construction management team is in place to execute the projects;
  • Carry out complex pre-feasibility and pre-construction services;
  • Prepare comprehensive project cost and scheduling forecasts;
  • Complete monthly reviews to ensure comprehensive due diligence is achieved prior to starting work on a variety of projects;
  • Manage and mentor in-house construction teams and third party construction/project management teams
  • Work with Joint Venture partners in Brazil:
    • Review a large variety of projects at construction level in an increasingly large pipeline;
    • Review methods of carrying out pre-feasibility & pre-construction activities;
    • Determine project risk;
    • Upgrade procedures & methods;
    • Ensure accurate and consistent project assessments are carried out for each project prior to AI board approvals;
    • Ensure risks are being captured properly & presented to Development Analysis team.
 
Key requirements
  • Graduate in Civil Engineering and/or a graduate of Building Sciences and Project Management and/or an graduate architect or a design graduate from a credited college or university or design school would be an asset.
  • Minimum of ten to fifteen years of experience in commercial real estate primarily the Design and Construction of large Shopping Centres, Office Buildings and/or mixed use projects.
  • Experience and ability to lead, manage, motivate and administer a large staff.
  • A team player with excellent organization and communication skills with solid industry knowledge.
  • Innovative, creative and flexible.
  • A problem solver with excellent negotiation skills
  • Established industry relationships and contacts.
  • Bilingualism (English/French) would be considered an asset.
